As a native of the mountains, Karen Godfrey has been a Realtor in this area since 1992. Karen has chosen to combine her love of the mountains and knowledge of the area into a successful real estate career. Her late husband, Michael’s, 25+-year career with TVA in Reservoir and River Operations has afforded her a great working knowledge of the lake and river systems in our area. Paying attention to the clients’ needs and dreams is what has helped Karen to excel in her profession. This is noted in her numerous awards and continuing client referral business. Specializing in not only resort and second homes, she enjoys working on both large and small tracts of land, and all types of waterfront properties.
Karen believes in giving back to her industry and the community in which she lives and works. This belief has led her to serve her board of Realtors in many capacities – the latest being the 2007 President. She also serves on numerous committees. Karen was chosen as 2007 Realtor of the Year for the Northeast Georgia Board of Realtors and was a nominee for the 2008 Realtor of the Year for the Georgia Association of Realtors.
With the desire to better serve her clients, Karen has continued her education in the real estate industry. This has led her to achieve her designations as a Graduate of the Realtor Institute and an Accredited Buyers’ Representative. She is currently working on her Certified Residential Specialist and Certified International Property Specialist designations as well as a new designation known as the Green Designation course (environmental) and hopes to finish classes in 2009.
Karen resides on a farm in North Carolina and continues to pursue her hobbies of gardening, horses, and enjoying the outdoors. She is the proud parent of two drown children and genuinely relates to all families who want to live the American Dream of Home Ownership.
